The FDX-1 represents the foundation of the Flying Diamonds Project X line—our in-house approach to building a true all-around performance fin.

Developed through extensive testing across a wide range of boards and conditions, the FDX-1 was designed as a balanced, dependable template that surfers can rely on day in and day out. Sitting in a neutral position—not overly upright and not heavily raked—it delivers a consistent blend of drive, control, and release, making it equally suited for shortboards and midlengths.

This template was built to feel familiar the moment you step on the board. It generates speed when needed, holds through turns, and releases cleanly without feeling overly stiff or too loose. Whether run as a thruster for tighter, more controlled surfing, or as a quad for added speed and drive, the FDX-1 adapts easily to changing conditions and different riding styles.

Built using our AirFlex construction, each fin features a lightweight polyurethane foam core wrapped in high-strength fiberglass and bonded with epoxy resin through a precision molding process. This approach reduces excess weight while maintaining the strength and feel of a traditional fiberglass fin. The result is a balanced flex pattern with quick response, smooth feedback in choppy conditions, and a lively feel through turns.

FDX fins are produced using the same materials, processes, and manufacturing standards as many of the leading performance fin brands. By focusing on design and construction while keeping overhead low, we’re able to offer a high-performance fin without the added cost typically associated with the category.
