BING Surfboards and Flying Diamonds of California have collaborated on a refined fin collection designed to complement the full spectrum of traditional surfcraft—from noseriders and gliders to all-around logs, mid-lengths, and eggs. This marks the first fin collaboration under the BING name, guided by owner and head shaper Matt Calvani, who insisted that anything carrying the Bing logo meet the same high standards of craftsmanship, performance, and integrity found in his boards.

Years in the making, the collection draws on extensive design, development, and real-world testing with Bing team riders. Each template was fine-tuned to deliver reliable trim, projection, control, and flex—qualities central to traditional longboarding. To achieve this, Matt chose to build all of these fins using Volan lamination for the special flex and feel of Volan and the distinctive, classic look unique to a beautifully-foiled Volan fin. This material choice enhances sensitivity and responsiveness while honoring the timeless aesthetic valued by traditionalists.

While designed to pair seamlessly with Bing shapes, these fins also complement traditionally inspired boards from other respected shapers. A respected craftsman with more than three decades of shaping experience, Matt has helped revive and evolve Bing Surfboards since the early 2000s, blending vintage single-fin sensibilities with tasteful innovation. His commitment to functional design and surfing heritage underpins this collaboration, offering surfers refined equipment rooted in history and built for progression.
